Doctoral seminar

Veni, vidi, vici. I survived the doctoral seminar on qualitative methods. It was an active and much-participating group, so I did enjoy the time ( & learned a lot myself). Also, it was nice to see my bosses weekend refugium in Maienfeld.

Discourse on human nature

I had a chat with toad, principal programmer on the freenetproject.org. Here is the executve summary of our talk, quoted without his permission 🙂

toad: it takes divine intervention to change human nature; there’s a certain amount we can do with tools and structures, but at the end of the day people are just assholes

An Almut: Gentoo Summer Camp

Almut, what do you think. Next summer holiday? 🙂

The second Gentoo Summer Camp 2006 in Germany is planned for 26 and 27 August 2006, probably to be held somewhere on the German North Sea coast, with the exact venue to be decided upon soon. Organizer Slick, one of the German Gentoo Forum moderators, expects between 30 and 40 campers to participate in the event, with at least a few of them arriving a week early to spend an entire Gentoo vacation at the site.
