I tried out the New Ubuntu Hardy beta on a PowerPC Macintosh. It worked generally ok, but you can feel that it’s not a supported platform on Ubuntu. The ondemand CPU frequency scaling did not work (apparently it needs to be compiled directly into the kernel), suspend and hibernating did not work at all, and OpenOffice could not be installed due to dependency inconsistencies. These three reasons made me go back to Mac OSX.
