Hail for the holy grail of open source software that is called Linux. It has solved all of my computer problems. NOT. There is one thing that has never worked for me on any of the boxes I installed Linux on so far.
Seriously, it is no problem to get computers to hibernate or suspend. But waking them up again has never ever really worked for me. And that is on pretty standard hardware. Either the display remains black (or shows interesting patterns that would rather hint to the intake of hallucinogenic medication). Or mouse and keyboard stop working. Or, it wakes up immediately after going to sleep. Or all USB ports stop working. …
I don’t care about this on a server with 400 days of uptime, but on a laptop and even my desktop this is just plain unusable.
