The Economist still doesn’t get it

“The contrast is all the sharper given some of the successes shown by those [governments] using open source software: the District of Columbia, for example, has junked its servers and proprietary software in favor of the standard package of applications offered and hosted by Google.” (The Economist, Feb 16th, 2008, p.13)

Hello? No, Google Apps may be nifty and accessible through a regular web browser, but they are certainly not open source.

P.S. Matthias Stürmer is mentioned on an official europa.eu website, promoting the use of OSS in schools. Congrats.
